It continues to be a busy and exciting year in first and second grade!  Favorites include writing in journals, holding morning meetings, learning and signing new words, and of course, music, art, library, and PE. They also enjoy spending time at various centers to create artwork, play math games, form letters out of wax sticks, and complete puzzles.

The class is getting ready for an exciting and busy last quarter.  They will be working on the last Theme in our reading book and learning about cause and effect.  The class will be working on pod projects about planets.  Each pod is making a book containing information about their planet.  They will then share these with the class and teach about their planet.

Hello All!

We are wrapping up another great year in the Elementary Library! It seems like it went so fast. Mrs. Gail Hillock officially retired in December of 2011 and we all truly miss her. She was so dedicated to her job, her school, and especially the students. I am trying very hard to fill her shoes, but that will take years.

OAKS reading and math tests have been completed.   Mrs. Christman is proud of her student’s hard working attitude!   They have all given 100% effort.

Newberry books will be the focus of our final book reports.   Students will have to give a book review on the book they read. This project will work on students reading, writing, and speaking skills.

The end of the school year is on us already! They say time flies when you are having fun, and this school year has been lots of fun. The students worked hard and made good progress.

Although school is coming to an end does not mean their learning should come to an end. In many cases students will regress in their knowledge due to the lack of studying over the summer time. I highly recommend that parents make a strong attempt to continue with their child’s reading and math among other daily learning opportunities.

The school year is flying by as we have passed the halfway mark.
The 4th graders have been making great strides in math.  We are getting into multi-digit multiplication and the kids seem to be picking up on it fast.  Some are even trying long division.  It is fun having a class that is eager for challenges.
